LiteraSeed was founded after multiple, heartbreaking tragedies that could have been prevented with improved communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Our co-founder Aziza, the daughter of refugees from war-torn Afghanistan, knows the challenges low literacy individuals face navigating healthcare.
In 2016, Aziza's 10-year-old cousin died from anaphylactic shock, while waiting in the Emergency Department. This preventable death was caused by a breakdown in communication. After two more life-threatening incidents in her family, one ending in the death of a baby, Aziza co-founded LiteraSeed to close critical communication gaps between patients and their medical care teams.
Our product is informed by our lived experience. We collaborate with doctors, health systems, and public health professionals to design and develop our solutions. We strive to bridge the communication gap between clinicians and patients by addressing the needs of both, enabling more efficient and targeted healthcare delivery where all patients are comfortable seeking care at the earliest sign of a problem. Our products are tested in real-world settings, within safety-net health systems, with linguistically and culturally diverse patients and their medical providers.
